Reflection - Image #1
Deana Spingel and Blake Racine are the subjects of my photograph collection. In order to foster a specific mood, I positioned the light source beneath them, altering the angle from the right to bottom right to slight left. I didn't instruct position of the model so much; it was my goal to make them feel as natural as possible and shoot genuine emotion. Photograph 3 was Blake's response to a joke, Deana moving on her own and watching the activity in the rest of the room. I wanted to get a range of angles: straight on, up close and personal, as well as one that I believed to be more dynamic with the artwork included in the frame. I think my pictures communicate a real sense of humanity. Emotions that are real and are projected everyday. I think they can tell any story; one of sadness, loss, complacency or resentment, even the innocence of joy and wonder.
