Reflection
This still life was comprised of: a wooden drawing model, a glass jar, glitter, the (more offensive) makeup tools, a polaroid camera, and a cel phone battery chord. I wanted the proximity of the space to be very close and tightly situated. Against the white background, I felt the natural lights of the room would work most affectively. Any further manipulation would only glare or over-expose. In my opinion, the shallow depth of field images are stronger. I always prefer emphasizing one subject rather than equally emphasizing the entire image's subjects. Since the light was left naturally, the highlights transition to shadows in a softer way.
The items comment modern society, addressing the major complaints against the current generation. One is the older generation's perceptions of technology, and the constraints against human thought and creativity. The second is the materialistic focus of our world now, and its overwhelming bind to shallowness of character.
