Reflection - Image #4
Colors of the world--in this case, a manmade depiction of the natural environment. It's a graffitied wall in Manhattan's SoHo, intricately detailed, though so elementary with its color book concept Primary colors fill the monochromatic space, drawing the attention of the eye. In doing so, what could have been an over stimulating piece had instead a carefully crafted vibrance. Referencing different cultures (with the lion character, the sun, aztec-style people) in such seamless transition contributed to the work's major theme of unified cultures living in peace. In capturing this wall, I wanted to cut off part of the earth, and focus more on the vast space surrounding it. While the earth (for reasons of its color) seems the centerpiece of the wall, by shifting the spread of the photograph I hoped to give a sense of earth's movement and space within the galaxy's vast, all-inclusive cultures.
