Reflection - Image #3
This double exposure was made through the blending manipulations of three separate images: a garage door painted with a graffiti devil, a nighttime shot of a moving taxi, and a lone, dangling lightbulb. Together, these pictures evoke a haunting, demonic paranoia. To me, it emphasizes a fear of being watched, sidestepping sin, and the fire of the underworld. By overlapping in the way I did, I was able to highlight certain parts of the "face" to give a spotlight quality, and enhance the horizontal directions of the garage door with the trace of the lit taxi cab. There's an interesting balance between light and dark, and emphasis of color to create a 2 dimensional sort of canvas. By removing a sense of foreground, middle ground, and background, the picture has a very cartoonish feel. The lightbulb layer was applied first on 'linear light', then multiplied to spread light over a broader range of the image.
