Reflection - Image #5
To gain complete control of my shutter release, I set my camera to Bulb f5, with IOS sensitivity at Hi2. These settings combined, I was able to create daytime atmosphere with nighttime lighting. The light sources themselves were simple glowsticks--blue, green, pink, and yellow--with two held in each hand. The overall effect is slightly dreamy, with red hues in the background and blinding yellow lights captured by the windows. This especially helped in enhancing the cold tones of the painted light. Initially, I wanted to contrast the earthly world with orbs that reminded the viewer of extraterrestrial entities. I think the predated feel of the space works with the futuristic qualities of the light to contrast time, and comment on the human obsession with the wonders of space.
